Big Surf water park-Tempe, Arizona USA 2010, Big Surf, a Tempe, Arizona water park with the nation's first recreational wave machine, built in 1969. In the 1980's the Central Arizona Project canal was built to deliver Colorado River water to many of the state's desert farms and communities, like Tempe, which is almost 200 miles away from the canal's intake on Lake Havasu.
